National Bourbon Day - Saturday, June 14, 2025
Designated as America’s native spirit by a Congressional Resolution in 1964, bourbon has been distilled since the 1700s. On Saturday, June 14th, you can celebrate National Bourbon Day with a couple of fingers of bourbon, or a couple bottles of barrel-aged bourbon beer. But why June 14th? According to bourbon legend, on June 14, 1789, Reverend Elijah Craig created the first bourbon. Although there is no proof behind this claim, that doesn’t stop bourbon lovers from celebrating this boozy holiday in June.
Beer Day Britain - Sunday, June 15, 2025
Introduced in 2015, Beer Day Britain is a boozy holiday in June that celebrates beer in the United Kingdom. Despite the holiday’s relatively young age, this annual celebration has quickly grown in popularity, and even has its own theme song. Titled Cheers to Beer, this beer anthem is sung at 7 pm on Beer Day Britain.
Father’s Day - Sunday, June 15, 2025
Despite a bill by Congress in 1913 declaring “[the] third Sunday in June is Father’s Day”, and a 1966 Presidential proclamation by President Lyndon Johnson, this June holiday wasn’t signed into law until 1972 by President Nixon. However, the concept of Father’s Day has been around for a lot longer. For example, a tradition in the 16th century called “Herrenpartie”, or men’s outing. One thing most of these celebrations of fathers and fatherhood have in common? Beer! In the United States, beer is the top alcohol choice for Father’s Day celebrations; European beer sales also increase during Father's Day week. In Germany, their version of Father’s Day, known as Vatertag or Männertag, involves wheeling around carts filled with alcohol and food while drinking and celebrating.
