It’s almost fall y’all! Celebrate the changing of the seasons and the transition to fall by enjoying a beer on these five beer holidays in September 2025.
National Beer Lover’s Day - Sunday, September 7, 2025
Beer is a (t)ale as old as time. Literally; the process of brewing beer predates written history. National Beer Lover’s Day aims to celebrate and bring awareness to the history, passion, and achievements of the art of brewing, and the love of beer.
Celebrate this beer holiday in September by participating in the centuries old tradition of enjoying a beer with friends; consider pairing an older style with a newer beer style to really taste the evolution of beer.
Sour Beer Day - Saturday, September 20, 2025
Like much of beer history, the details of the history of sour beer aren’t exactly clear. Believed to originate in Belgian monasteries in the early 18th century, sour beers owe their unique flavor profiles to wild yeast and/or bacteria making their way in during the brewing process. In early brewing, this occurred in the barrels or during cooling while exposed to outside air. In modern brewing, this is done by introducing specific bacterias, or by adding fruit to encourage organic acids like citric acid.
Celebrate Sour Beer Day by enjoying one; with styles including, among others, American Wild Ale, Berliner Weisse, Gose, and Lambic, there is a bacteria for everyone on this beer holiday in September.
Oktoberfest Begins - Saturday, September 20, 2025
What started as a wedding celebration in October 1810 has grown into the world’s largest Volksfest (basically a beer festival with a traveling carnival) with around 7,000,000 (seven million) annual visitors. Celebrate this 16 day beer holiday in October by enjoying some Oktoberfest Märzen or Festbier.
National Crush-A-Can Day - Saturday, September 27, 2025
Created to encourage recycling, this beer holiday in September aims to remind everyone to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. On National Crush-A-Can Day, enjoy a beer from one of the 180,000,000,000 (one hundred eighty billion!) aluminum cans that are produced each year, and then make sure it joins the nearly 70% of aluminum cans that are recycled.
National Drink Beer Day - Sunday, September 28, 2025
This annual beer holiday in September has been celebrated for years, but no one seems to know how it started. Regardless of its admittedly blurry origins, National Drink Beer Day is the perfect day to do as the beer holiday name suggests and drink beer.
