Beer Holidays in August 2025

Beer Blog Holiday

August is the last full month of summer, so it’s time to soak up the sun (safely!) in the brightest month of the year. If that isn’t your style and you’d rather stay indoors until the sun sets, the Messier 30 star cluster, affectionately known as the Jellyfish Cluster, is longest observable in early August. No matter which way your proclivities lie, I bet they pair brilliantly with a beer.

Here are two beer holidays in August 2025 to celebrate with a cold beer in the hottest month of the year.

International Beer Day - Friday, August 1, 2025

Created in 2007 in Santa Cruz, California by Jesse Avshalomov, International Beer Day aims to “unite the world under the banner of beer, by celebrating the beers of all nations together on a single day”. This beer holiday in August celebrates all of the participants of the brewing-to-drinking pipeline, from brewers to consumers. Drinking games, trivia nights, and beer flights of special beers are popular ways to celebrate International Beer Day, as well as gifting beers between participants. Celebrate this August beer holiday by enjoying an international brew with your beer crew.

National IPA Day - Thursday, August 7, 2025

National IPA Day may have been established by Ashley Rousten in 2011 but, given the popularity of this beer style, it has likely been unofficially celebrated for centuries. IPA beer became popular in England in the 1840s; by the early 1860s, they were widely brewed. After an early 1900s dip in popularity, renewed interest in the 1970s led to the first American style IPA in 1975. Celebrate this beer holiday in August by enjoying an IPA; it’s the most popular style in craft brewing for a reason!
