Black Dog Brewing Company
Mooresville, Indiana
Although Black Dog Brewing Company opened its doors in May 2020, it has quite a bit of brewing history behind it. Not only did (majority owner) Jeremy Kuntz work for macro breweries such as Guinness and Corona for two decades before opening Black Dog Brewing Company, in the late 1800s his family owned and operated a brewery in Waterloo, Canada. There is one huge difference between breweries: the name! Since the family’s previous brewery was purchased, they had to come up with a new name…and what better inspiration than their pet dog Shelby (who is featured on the can of the Shelby Dog IPA…one of my favorites!) Fifth Frame Brewing Co.
Rochester, New York
The appeal “Come for the breakfast, stay for the beer!” may not apply to many craft breweries, but Fifth Frame Brewing Co. isn’t a normal craft brewery! Located in Rochester, New York, Fifth Frame Brewing was founded by a group of entrepreneurs who aimed to create something that combined all of their interests. In addition to brewing beer, Fifth Frame brews specialty coffee, and has a menu that is absolutely drool-worthy (at least, it is if you’re a fan delicious foods including focaccia, dope dips, and honey butter biscuits!). Moonlight Meadery
Londonderry, New Hampshire
This may sound silly, but Moonlight Meadery gives us hope. After all, Moonlight Meadery started as a labor of love (just like us!), and has sold more than a million bottles (unlike us…yet?). In 1995, founder Michael Fairbrother tried an apple and honey mead beverage for the first time, and in 2010 he quit his job. Why did he quit? Great question! He spent those last 15 years moonlighting as a mead-maker, honing his talents, sharpening his skills, and brewing award-winning meads. When he was named the best mead maker in New England for the third consecutive year, he decided to make the jump to full-time mead maker. Fairbrother combines his skills with quality ingredients such as True Source Certified and/or Certified Organic honey, locally pressed cider, and wild harvested New England blueberries. Read More
