It’s the first day of February; only 48 days until spring! If the winter weather is wearing on you, and you’re looking for something to look forward to, here are 6 beer holidays in February 2025 so you have something to celebrate all month long.
Stout Month - Saturday, February 1, 2025 through Friday, February 28, 2025
Although the stout style evolved around the 1730s, it fell out of fashion for a bit until modern interpretations sparked renewed interest and appreciation. 32 years ago in 1993, brewer Jack Harris at Mountain Sun Brewing in Boulder, Colorado, decided to turn February, historically considered one of the slower months in the beer industry, into Stout Month. What started as a couple of beer lovers driving across state lines to bring back limited distribution beers to try and share has since evolved into craft breweries across the nation celebrating and brewing this previously under-appreciated style.
Superbowl Sunday - Sunday, February 9, 2025
Commercials, cups, cheese, cans, and more. No matter where you look on Super Bowl Sunday, you’re likely to see some beer. In fact, it is estimated that Americans drink more than 325 million gallons of beer on Superbowl Sunday. Part of this is likely due to advertising; over the past few decades, Budweiser has spent more than half a billion dollars on their Super Bowl beer commercials.
Galentine’s Day - Thursday, February 13, 2025
With nearly a quarter of brewery owners being women, it isn’t surprising that many women choose to celebrate Galentine’s Day over girl dinner and some beer. After all, wheat beer typically pair delightfully with charcuterie boards. Popularized in 2010 by Leslie Knope in the sitcom Parks and Recreation, Galentine’s Day is a day to celebrate women’s friendship, and mutual empowerment.
Valentine’s Day - Friday, February 14, 2025
The origins of Valentine’s Day are a little bit hazy. What is clear is that the first formal valentine messages started in the 1500s, while commercially printed cards making their international debut in the late 1700s, and finally in the mid-1800s commercial valentines made their appearance in the United States. This holiday in February is the perfect time for a beer lover to porter a ring on it.
Open That Bottle Night - February 22, 2025
When a pair of Wall Street Journal Wine Columnists began the “Tastings” column in 1998, they were regularly receiving correspondence about one question in particular: when is the right time to open that special bottle? Deciding to find strength in numbers, they designated the last Saturday in February as Open That Bottle Night, which is a night dedicated to celebrating “love, friendship, and memories”.
World Bartender Day - February 24, 2025
If you want to be technical, you could say that bartending has been around since the 1400s. However, modern bartending as we know it exists largely thanks to one man: Jerry Thomas. Also known as The Father of Bartending”, he wrote the first book on bartending. In 1862, his book The Bar-Tender’s Guide, also known as How to Mix Drinks, was published. Despite a minor hiccup with Prohibition, bartending has become an increasingly skilled and respected trade, with national and international competitions with prizes of up to $10,000. World Bartender Day celebrates the talent and skill of bartenders across the world.
